Two Sisters, Two Families
We are two sisters, born and raised in rural Washington State and daughters of farmworker immigrants from Michoacán, Mexico. Between growing up in the lush Yakima Valley farmlands and spending time with our grandparents in rural Michoacán, we learned the hard work of cultivating and making real food.
Through Mocel, we share these lessons. Spirits should be made with simple ingredients, crafted in small-batches to capture the superior flavors from those ingredients and designed to connect and share with the people around you. It is the way mezcalero families have been doing it for 400 years and it’s an honor to work alongside them and share that mezcal heritage with you.

-
Agave acquires different profiles and flavors depending on the topography, soil, and climate from which they are grown. Mocel seeks to honor mezcal centuries-old traditions by running limited batches of agave expressions so no two batches are identical. So every small-batch of Mocel is as unique as you.
-
Mocel is made with water + 100% agave from Michoacán. We use simple ingredients to make a clean spirit that is superior in flavor.
-
From the agaves we harvest to Michoacán's distillation techniques, Mocel is produced and bottled in Michoacán, Mexico. Mocel’s bottle design uses distinctive regional textile patterns inspired by Michoacán's rich culture.
-
We created Mocel to connect and share with the people we love. Take time to savor Mocel during those special moments with friends and family.
Distilled in a wooden still - The Michoacán Still
Artisanal mezcales distilled in Michoacán are uniquely different by the use of a wooden covered still, often referred to as a Tarascan Still. The use of stills in Western Mexico were adapted to the local needs thus resulting in variation of the distillation process between regions including Michoacán and Oaxaca.
